Children and adolescents are unique in their developmental, behavioural, and emotional stages, and when faced with complex issues, they may be overwhelming and challenging to comprehend.

Over the years, I have worked one-on-one with children and adolescents in various settings. I have learned that patience is key and strive to hold a safe space. I believe in building trust, providing compassion, dedication, and a warm environment to help clients reach their goals.

I am pursuing my Master of Psychology through Adler Graduate Professional School and working as a practicum student under the supervision of Dr. Nadine Mourad. I hold a BA Honors degree in Psychology and a minor in Child, Youth, and Family Studies from the University of Guelph.

With a strong client-centred approach, I am committed to supporting each client’s journey as they unravel their problems, overcome challenges, and explore their capabilities. Creating a personal connection with each client is essential in developing a therapeutic relationship where they feel understood and cared for.

PSYCHOTHERAPY, COUNSELING, COUPLES THERAPY, PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSULTATION FOR MANAGERS

Hello and welcome. I have dedicated my life to helping people live fulfilling lives and enjoy harmonious relationships. I am curious to get to know you, and pledge to try my best to be sensitive to your unique background, goals, values and ways of being in the world. All humans occasionally experience distress, suffering and confusion. Psychotherapy can help facilitate your growth by helping you get in touch with your deeper self, mourn your losses, redefine your sense of purpose, learn to communicate more efficiently and make better choices for yourself. Pain is sometimes inevitable, but what we do about it is up to us. By choosing to learn from your pain, you can become wiser, stronger, more balanced and more compassionate towards ourselves and others. I will walk with you and support you every step of the way.

I obtained my doctorate in clinical psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. After working in a variety of settings, including a college counseling center, an acute care psychiatric facility, a medical rehabilitation facility and a double diagnosis center (for people struggling with substance abuse and mental health problems), I developed and maintained a private practice in Tel Aviv for 15 years.

My areas of specialization include gender- and sexuality-related issues (including gender transition and transgender medicine, women’s issues, LGBTQ identities and lifestyles and consensual open relationships), sexual trauma and neurodiversity. I write and lecture world- wide on topics of gender and sexuality, and have published an award-winning book on bisexuality: From Psychoanalytic Bisexuality to Bisexual Psychoanalysis: Desiring in the Real: Rapoport, Esther: 9780367227500: Books - Amazon.ca I practice individual and couples therapy. My work with couples is informed by principles of emotion-focused and relational psychoanalytic approaches. In addition, I work with managers and staff of nonprofit organizations on issues of burnout and compassion fatigue prevention, fostering staff resilience and trauma-informed

management. I have a long-standing interest in mindfulness and have studied Buddhist psychology.

Having been trained in a variety of psychotherapeutic approaches, including relational psychodynamic, object relations, cognitive-behavioral, Jungian and body-based psychotherapies, I will tailor my approach to your unique needs and wishes. Based on my experience and training, I view long-term psychotherapy as more effective, particularly for problems that are complex and/or have existed for a long time. Nonetheless, I realize that not everyone has the time or financial resources to invest in long-term therapy and that is why I also use more focused, time-limited approaches when necessary. Because the quality of the client-therapist relationship is the single best predictor of the psychotherapy outcome, I will take great care to ensure that our work together proceeds in a climate of deepening trust, mutuality and collaboration.

Modalities: Relational psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness-based, time-limited dynamic psychotherapy (TLDP), body-based (somatic experiencing, focusing), motivational interviewing; couples therapy: relational and emotion-focused.

Languages: English, Hebrew, Russian

Are you feeling anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, or hopeless? Does it seem like life’s problems are just too much for you to handle at this point? Many of my clients felt this way before we started working together. They were stuck in their old thinking patterns and could not see a way out. In therapy, they learned new ways to look at their situations. They rediscovered strengths and resources that were hidden in plain sight. They developed new skills that helped them achieve goals and create a better life for themselves.

My name is Idan and I have years of experience working with people like yourself. I use a variety of evidence-based psychological approaches. My main therapeutic modality is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). It is the most researched psychotherapeutic approach today and arguably the most effective approach for many psychological conditions. My approach to therapy is greatly affected by Adlerian psychology. This highly valuable approach will give you a healthier perspective on your life’s circumstances and will help you build healthy attitudes towards yourself, others, and life in general. This approach will also help you find meaning and enjoyment in life. I enhance my work with practices such as mindfulness, guided imagery, and hypnotherapy. These practices can teach you to overcome troubling thoughts, be present, and enjoy the current moment. These techniques can also accelerate your ability to create positive change, and help you achieve positive therapy results in just a few effective sessions.

I understand that you are going through a tough time right now, but I am also excited for you because I know how good it feels once you discover that things can improve more than you expected. I invite you to contact our office and schedule your first meeting with me. This may be one of the best things that you can do for yourself today.
